OPAL
Outdoor Play and Learning, our journey so far…
As part of our school development we identified that our lunchtimes could be even better. We already have lots of great fixed play equipment and there are many organised games and activities on offer. However, we want to see ALL children being given the opportunity to play, explore and develop in our wonderful environment and wanted to find even more ways to offer this to them. This was why we chose to become an OPAL school.
Staff have had our first training day on OPAL. It was brilliant to see their enthusiasm and understanding on this new venture develop, as they learnt the reasoning behind it and what we are hoping to achieve. A working party will be working with the lead from OPAL as we complete audits and devise an action plan and a new play policy. I will be very excited to also soon be able to share with you more information on OPAL and why we know that becoming an OPAL school is going to be so great for our children. We will plan the best way to share information with you and look forward to you also understanding more about what we are about to embark upon.
